Located in Eastern, Akagera National Park is named after Kagera River that flows along Rwanda’s eastern boundary with Tanzania. The river feeds into Lake Ihema and other smaller lakes in and around the park. Akagera comprise savannah, woodland, wetland and a dozen lakes. Home to the Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Cape buffalo, Rhino and Elephant) as well as hundreds of other animal and bird species, the largely open
expanse is ideal for game viewing. Pick up at 9 am at the hotel/ your residence and depart for Akagera National Park. After 2 hours 30 min to 3 hours depending on the stopovers, we should arrive at the park gate and proceed to the park reception for registration. Arriving in lunch time, you will check in at the lodge and have lunch. Later, you will go for a game and later a night game drive. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Magashi Cam

Today after breakfast, you will go for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Lake Ihema is the biggest water bodies that can be seen in Akagera and the second largest in Rwanda. On boat safari, you have chance to see its large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles and abundant water birds on the island in the middle of the lake. You will later check out and driver back to Kigali with lunch stopover at Imigongo Art center.
