Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kigali International Airport

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be picked up by the hotel
 to start your travel experience. Our guide will introduce you briefly to of one of Africa’s cleanest cities the next day and give you a general orientation.

Day 2Transfer to Nyungwe via King’s palace

Based in Nyanza, 88 km south of Kigali City and Situated on a hill 2km southwest of town, the King’s Palace Museum is less about ancient history and more about royal residences. The displays Centre on a replica king’s ‘palace made entirely with traditional materials offers a detailed look into Rwandan traditional seat of their monarchy.  A guided tour explains some of the architectural idiosyncrasies inside the royal compound, including why the royal beer brewer’s hut had an entrance without a lip, and other curiosities such as why the woman who looked after the king’s milk was never able to
marry, traditional Rwandan royal cows known for their impressive horns, a colonial building which was also used as the palace for a time sits next door that contains a series of exhibits on the monarchy and court customs. Later we will proceed to Nyungwe for canopy walk experience. The canopy walkway
gives an exhilarating perspective on the ancient treetops, bird’s eye view of the Albertine Rift endemic species and countless butterflies, meals and accommodation at Nyungwe nziza eco lodge. Meals and accommodation at the lodge.

Journey time: 5 hours’ drive from Kigali to Nyungwe National Park.

Day 3Chimpazee Trekking

At 5am after breakfast, will drive off to Nyungwe for briefing and then after setting off for chimpanzee trekking. chimpanzees are the closet relatives to human beings sharing approximately 98% of human DNA. The chimpanzees live in different families each family headed by one dominant who leads the group. They demonstrate different roles in a family with the females nursing and taking care of the young ones, the males protecting the family and the young ones playing and feeding. Day 4Hiking The Congo Trail

After breakfast, you will start the hike From Mwaga round Shangi to Nyamasheke, the trail you will be enjoying agricultural activities, beautiful landscapes and scenery around Lake Kivu, amazing rolling hills, enjoy the magnificent views of the area. The hike will take 5 to 6 hours.

Day 5Hiking From Nyamasheke to Kumbya

After breakfast, you carry packed lunch and continue enjoying the beauty of Kivu life through its rolling hills while taking pictures on your adventure to Congo Nile Trail, this hike will take about 5 -6 hours.

Day 6Hiking From Gataka to Karongi

After breakfast, you will be driven for about 1 hour to Gataka waterfall and start hiking to karongi. Discover the beautiful fields, villages, meet the locals, discovering the culture, exploring the hills and the coffee fields along the shores of lake kivu. This hike will take approximately 5 hours to reach karongi . You will be driven back to Kigali in the evening. You will do another Rapid test to be used in Akagera National park @ 10 dollars.

Day 7Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park lies in eastern Rwanda, hugging the border with Tanzania. It’s characterized by woodland, swamps, low mountains and savannah. The varied terrain shelters wildlife including Antelopes, zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and hundreds of bird species, such as the rare shoebill stork. In the southern part of the park, vast Lake Ihema is home to hippos and Nile crocodiles.
Day Tour to Akagera National Park You will be picked at place of residence at 5am by our professional driver guide to your next journey to Akagera National park. The journey will 2 and 30 minutes to reach the park reception. The full day game drive offers you more opportunities to spot a variety of wild animals that you might have missed yesterday such as elephants, buffalos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck coupled with large concentration of bird life; over 525 species identified . After a wonderful day enjoying the spectacular sights and sounds of nature. We will arrive back to Kigali for overnight stay.

Day 8Twin Lakes Tour

Located between Musanze district and Ugandan border at the base of the Mount Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo, it’s believed that the twin lakes were formed after volcanic glaciers from the erupted volcanoes blocked river Nyabarongo that was flowing towards the northern part of the Rwanda. The twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo were named so because they are situated in the same areas and their physical connection and share a combined surface area of 2800 hectares of land. Famed for its fresh air, gorgeous mountain views, and perfect weather, the lakes offer tourists a beautiful view of landscape, wetland habitat, and water birds, Virunga volcanoes, culture visits. After an early breakfast, you will drive to in Musanze 9am, check in at the lodge and after having a delicious lunch, you head for boat cruise on Burera
and Ruhondo Lakes to enjoy a fantastic nature walk around the lakes, bird watching, fishermen fishing overnight stay at the lodge in Gisenyi
